I didn’t watch (except to see what they got), but any real sports car would have been illegal to import anyway, and I’d imagine shippers would balk at moving it. Not that it would be impossible to find someone shady enough to slip it in, but you’d have to do some hunting.

I’m actually subscribed to the guy, this is actually his second time being scammed. The first time was when he bought an electric motorcycle from China and they sent him one that wasn’t anywhere near the specs he ordered. He thinks they just sent him the wrong one. Nah, that was also a scam.

But to his credit though he’s upgraded the crap out of that motorcycle and it’s pretty awesome now, so at least he knows how to wrench and do computer stuff . It’s actually usable as a daily bike now.

Aaaaaaaanyway, he saw this electric sportscar for sale on a Chinese site for $31k. The site seemed legit enough to him and the car does actually exist to some degree as there are quite a few videos out there showing it off. Of course, no knowing what’s actually powering the cars in those videos, but at least it “exists”. The site didn’t appear to be hiding anything dirty, there were no reports of the site or company being a scam, etc etc.

After doing what he thought was due diligence and research, he ordered the car. They sent him a fake smart car golf cart instead.

In his last video on this he reveals he did eventually get a full refund, minus $2k for the golf cart he did receive.

I believe there was an article on Jalopnik about that electric “ supercar” a while back, because the company claimed they were going to sell them in America and were already going through the process of crash testing it and modifying it for the American market. So there might be a slight chance that those things really are legal to import and drive in America, and just aren’t on sale here yet. As for shipping the wrong car and all that, the youtuber in question made some other videos where he went into detail about why he thought the company was legit and all the lengths he went to to try and make sure they were legit. I’m inclined to believe him, although you couldn’t possibly have picked a more hilariously wrong car to ship in place of an “electric supercar” if you tried.

Wow, pretty sure he knew what he ordered and this all reeks of #content clickbait...I’m amused to see the little thing as I like weird and quirky cars, but yeah...if a seller was going to scam you legitimately for $31,000, do you really think they would send you ANYTHING?

The car is still pretty amusing....I think one of those would be great (maybe in better colors) for just popping down the road a ways to the shops for groceries or the like, even if they are really slow...
